Eve Hewson as Adele in Behind Her Eyes (Photo: Netflix)ĭespite a somewhat conjectured and simple script, Simona Brown shines as Louise, playing her as a deer caught in the headlights of David and Adele’s terrible, possibly abusive marriage. Thanks to this extraordinary ability, she already knows about Louise and David’s affair – she watches them. Eventually (after what feels like three episodes of just watching her sleep) we find out that Adele can astral project, which means her soul, symbolised by a pink wisp that wouldn’t look out of place in a Harry Potter movie, can leave her body and visit any room she’s been to before. Adele teaches Louise, who suffers from terrible nightmares (though we never find out why), how to control her dreams. Things pick up when a more supernatural element is introduced. As a binge watch, Behind Her Eyes is overly drawn out with not enough drama to make up for the rather dull storyline. The series is frustratingly slow – it takes a whole episode to reach the café scene, which is hardly gripping anyway – and I can’t help but feel it would be much more enticing were it released on a weekly basis. When Louise runs into Tom’s wife, Adele ( Eve Hewson), after dropping her son off at school, she is more or less forced into heading to the nearest café and getting to know the woman whose husband she is casually shagging. This might be the best way to keep audiences interested without overusing the Season One storyline. The show could also go the anthology-route, American Horror Story style, and follow a new cast of characters that overlap with the original in various ways (mainly the ability to astral project and control one's dreams by lucid dreaming). Will Louise’s ex-husband realize that she’s not who she once was (literally), and rescue their sweet son Adam from this imposter? It would be painful to watch Louise/Rob harm Adam, when the emotional heart of Season One was their loving relationship, but it is definitely a direction the show could take. ![]() We could flash back and fill in the holes in their backgrounds-like who was David when he was young? Was he really just coincidentally nearby when the fire broke out at Adele’s estate, or is there more to it? Will David realize that Louise is actually Rob? Will David try to prescribe antipsychotics for Louise/Rob? Do antipsychotics even work on the soul, or just the body? If Netflix does indeed make a new season, the show could continue to tell David, Adele, Rob, and Louise’s stories. $17 at Amazon What Would Season Two Be About?
